В то же время существование ангелов и демонов подтверждается многовековым опытом церковных людей, заявил в субботу в эфире передачи «Церковь и мир» на телеканале «Россия-24» председатель Синодального отдела внешних церковных связей (ОВЦС) Московского патриархата митрополит Волоколамский Иларион (Алфеев).
Отвечая на вопрос зрителя, почему в ангелов и дьявола можно верить, а в инопланетян — нет, митрополит сослался на книгу иеромонаха Серафима (Роуза) «Православие и религия будущего», в которой автор доказывает, что якобы видевшие инопланетян люди на самом деле встречали демонов.
По словам Илариона, подобные встречи с бесами «существуют в изобилии» в житийной литературе. «А в то, что ангелы и демоны существуют, церковь верит не потому, что где-то это написано, а потому, что это подтверждается многовековым опытом церковных людей», — добавил он, отметив, что случаи соприкосновения с демоническими силами случались и в его пастырской практике.
«Если бы действительно существовали какие-то инопланетные цивилизации, то в Священном писании, в Библии, об этом обязательно было бы хоть что-нибудь сказано. Если об этом ничего не сказано, значит, мы исходим из того, что их не существует», — пояснил митрополит Иларион.
